They’re dancing high and they’re dancing low / The King of the Sidhe will not let you go / And you follow them round… into the mound of the faeries… — Coyote Run’s “Finnean’s Dance”
There’s been a bit of a stir in the Green Man Pub of late; one of our staffers keeps talking about a relatively new Celtic band she’s been following. Coyote Run, led by David Doersch, has been around since 1999, but the journey from their original Celtic Folk roots to their explosive, packed-house performances of today has drawn them international attention and acclaim.
That level of dedication and hard work prompted us to put together not one, but three pieces this time around: a review of an acoustic concert at the Williamsburg, VA library theatre; a review of their latest CD; and last but not least, a lengthy, delightful interview with current band members.
We recommend you take a moment to visit to the Coyote Run web site and start a sample of their songs playing in the background as you read these offerings. A good summer ale would make a fine companion to the reading as well–or a cup of quality coffee, if you’re not the alcohol-drinking type. Or even some grand hot chocolate…take your pick.
Now, settle back and enjoy….
